What I built
Built a Flask quiz app around a nested tree of subjects, chapters, quizzes and questions, where admins add each level in a modal without a page reload and users register, attempt an auto-scored quiz and review earlier attempts.
The problem
A quiz app has to hold its content in a hierarchy and keep every attempt attached to the right user and the right quiz. The exercise was to model that in a relational schema and build an interface for both sides of it.
How I approached it
- Modeled subjects, chapters, quizzes and questions as a nested hierarchy, linking every score back to a user and a quiz through SQLAlchemy relationships with cascade deletes.
- Built an admin side with create, edit and delete on every level and a dashboard of quiz statistics, alongside a user side for browsing, attempting and reviewing quizzes.
- Separated the two sides with Flask sessions, hashed passwords and an admin flag on the user record.
The outcome
A working coursework app that runs on the local Flask development server and creates its admin account on first run. It was never deployed and had no users beyond the course.
